Train Details:-
Vellore's main railway station is five km north at Katpadi. This is the junction of the broad-gauge line from Bangalore to Chennai, and the metre-gauge Tirupathi to Madurai line (which runs via Thiruvannamalai, Vilupurum, Chidambaram, Thanjavur and Tiruchirappalli ). The smaller Cantonment station, two km south of town, is on the meter-gauge line only. The daily train to Madurai (15 hours) leaves at 7.10 pm; to Thirupathi (105km, three hours) it's at the un earthly hour of 1.05am or there is a passenger train (5 1/2 hours) leaving at 9.15am.
